The weather was awful today, so instead of going for a 30 mile bike ride, I went for a Full English breakfast instead.
The Red Lion is a pub in a village near Tamworth, set right on the Fazeley canal, (so its fantastic for drinking outside in the summer).
I was surprised how busy the pub was, (which after breakfast, I found understandable), however, we ordered our breakfasts our teas and promptly got our breakfasts delivered. The egg was a little greasy, however, apart from that, it was very good. My wifes fried egg was hard and a bit greasy, which was a shame and likewise, it was very good.
2 thick slices of bacon, 2 sausages, (they looked deep fried, but had great texture and taste), black pudding, (cooked perfectly), beans, (which I asked for separately), tomato, crispy hash brown, beautifully cooked mushrooms and a slice of toast.
The veggie version was 2 veggie sausages, tomato, mushrooms, 2 fried eggs, (sadly both greasy and hard) and a crispy hash brown. this was rated 7-8/10 – which is very good.
To imporve this breakfast, sort out the eggs and change the toast from standard sliced bread to some decent quality bread, (ideally thick and crusty).
There are a few negatives whcich could be simple to sort out, however, overall this was a very good breakfast.
